Installation of ABBYY FineReader on a computer:

  1. Open the file "Setup.exe" on the installation CD or another delivery medium by double-clicking it.

  2. Follow the instructions on the screen of the installation wizard.

Deployment of ABBYY FineReader PDF 15 in a local network:

ABBYY FineReader can be installed and used in a local network. Thanks to the automatic installation procedures, it is possible to implement ABBYY FineReader quickly and flexibly in a local network without having to install the program manually on each individual workstation.

The installation takes place in two steps. First, the program is installed on the server, from which it can then be installed on the workstations. The following four methods are available for this:

  • Using Active Directory.
  • Using Microsoft System Center Configuration Managers (SCCM).
  • Installation via the command line.
  • Manual installation in interactive mode.

Starting ABBYY FineReader:

To start ABBYY FineReader PDF 15, you can use one of the following methods:

  1. Click the "Start" button in Windows and then select "All Programs" > "ABBYY FineReader PDF 15" (in Windows 10, you can find it under "Start" > "All Programs").

  2. Alternatively, you can right-click on a document file in Windows Explorer and select "Edit with ABBYY FineReader PDF 15" or "Convert with ABBYY FineReader PDF 15" to apply one of the conversion commands.

  • Note that this feature may not be available in some versions of ABBYY FineReader.

System requirements:

Operating system:

  • Microsoft Windows 10 / 8.1
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2019 / 2016 / 2012 R2
  • The language supported by the operating system must match the selected user interface language.

Hardware requirements:

  • 1 GHz or faster processor (32-bit or 64-bit) with SSE2 instruction set.
  • 1 GB RAM (4 GB recommended).
  • For each additional processor in multiprocessor systems, an additional 512 MB RAM is required.
  • 1.5 GB of free hard disk space for installation and an additional 1.5 GB for the operation of the program.
  • Graphics card and monitor with a minimum resolution of 1024x768.
  • An active internet connection is required for the activation of your serial number.
  • Keyboard, mouse, or other input device.

Support for terminal servers:

ABBYY FineReader PDF 15 has been successfully tested on the following terminal servers:

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2019, 2016, 2012 R2 (Remote Desktop, RemoteApp, and Remote Desktop Web Access)
  • Citrix Workspace App 1808 (using the scenario "Installed application with server access") as well as Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops.

Scanners and MFPs:

ABBYY FineReader PDF 15 provides support for TWAIN and WIA compatible scanners as well as multifunction printers (MFPs).
