Enabling Installation of Applications from Anywhere on Windows

Allow installation of unverified applications on Windows 10 and Windows 11

When downloading applications via web browsers like Chrome, a security warning may appear indicating that the software has not been verified by Microsoft. This safeguard is intended to ensure that downloads primarily come from the Microsoft Store.

To enable the installation of unverified apps on Windows 10 and Windows 11, follow these steps:

Step 1: Open Settings
Press the Windows key + I to open Settings, or search for "Settings" in the search box.

Step 2: Navigate to App Settings

  • On Windows 10: Go to "Apps" and then select "Apps & Features" in the sidebar.
  • On Windows 11: Go to "Apps" and then select "Advanced App Settings" in the sidebar.

Step 3: Change Installation Settings
Look for the setting that determines where you can install apps from. This may have the title "Get apps from" or something similar. Change this setting to "Anywhere".

This will now allow you to install apps from any source, not just the Microsoft Store.
