This installation guide applies to the following versions:
- Windows 10 Home
- Windows 10 Pro
With the Microsoft Media Creation Tool, you can reinstall Windows 10 directly on your computer without having to create a USB stick or DVD first.
Step 1:
- First, download the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft:
https://www.microsoft.com/de-de/software-download/windows10
Step 2:
- Next, open your Downloads folder and start the downloaded tool by double-clicking it.
Step 3:
- Wait until the preparations are complete.
Step 4:
- Read the license terms and then click “Accept”.
Step 5:
- Select the option:
- “Upgrade this PC now”
- and click “Next”.
Step 6:

The tool is now downloading the necessary Windows files.
- Please wait until the download is fully completed.
Step 7:
- Again, accept the license terms.
Step 8:
- Click on “Change what to keep” and then on “Next”.
Step 9:
- Now choose which data and programs should be kept:
- Keep personal files and apps
- Keep only personal files
- Nothing to keep (clean reinstall)
Step 10:
- Windows is now checking for available updates and preparing the installation.
- Please wait until this process is complete.
Step 11:
- Then click on “Install”.
- Windows will now begin the reinstallation. During this process, the computer will restart automatically several times.
Done
After the installation is complete, you can sign in again and use Windows as usual.
