Visual Studio is already installed and you just want to enter the product key?
Please note that the product key must match the installed version of Visual Studio. Since different editions are available, a reinstallation using the installation file provided by us may be necessary.
To avoid installation errors, we recommend that you complete the following steps thoroughly.
You can find the download in your customer account under “Software Downloads“.
Step 1
Start the Visual Studio installation file by right-clicking and selecting “Run as Administrator”.
Step 2
Select the desired components and then start the installation.
Step 3
Wait until the installation is fully completed.
Step 4
Restart your computer.
Step 5
After the restart, open Visual Studio via the Start menu.
Step 6
Click on “Not now, maybe later”.
Step 7
Select “Continue without code”.
Step 8
Click on “File” in the top left.
Step 9
Open the “Account Settings”.
Step 10
Click on “Unlock with a Product Key”.
Step 11
Enter your product key and then click “Apply”.
Step 12
The activation has been successfully completed.
Visual Studio is now fully ready for use.
