How to Install and Activate the HMA macOS App
Install HMA VPN Version 5 Client
After downloading HMA VPN, navigate to the downloaded file and double-click it to start the installation process. Follow the on-screen instructions to install HMA on your Mac device.
Start the App
Once you have successfully installed the HMA VPN client, you can start the application. Open the app by clicking on “Go” in the menu bar and then selecting “Applications”.
Log into the Application
- Open the HMA app to view the dashboard. Then select one of the following options:
- Purchase License
- Already Purchased?: Select this option if you already have an HMA subscription, and then follow the instructions below.
2. Enter your activation code and click “Activate”, or enter your HMA account details and click “Sign In”
If the problem persists, contact HMA Support.

Select Server
Just tell the app what you want to do – the rest will be done automatically! Choose one of the following connection options:
A. Location Mode
Connect through any location worldwide! Choose from countries, cities, and your favorites.
- Select a region in the left sidebar to see a list of P2P and streaming servers.
- View all locations and their optimized features via Quick Access.
- Surf websites like a local user.
- Click the small arrow next to the name of the server you are connected to and enter a desired location in the search field to select a new location.
NOTE: Click the heart symbol <3 next to your favorite servers to save them.
B. Lightning Connect
- Secure your connection with just one click.
- Encrypt your connection to public Wi-Fi networks and protect your connection for online banking.
Kill Switch
To use the HMA VPN Kill Switch feature, follow these steps:
- Launch the HMA VPN app.
- Click on the “Settings” option at the top of the screen.
- In the settings window, move the slider next to Kill Switch to activate the feature.
- You will receive a notification once the connection is established. After that, you can surf the internet securely, encrypted, and anonymously!
