How to Install and Activate the HMA Android App
HMA VPN for Android is a virtual private network (VPN) that secures your internet connection through an encrypted tunnel. This hides your actual location and prevents third parties from spying on your online activities over public Wi-Fi networks or unsecured connections.
HMA VPN is a paid product that requires a subscription. This article contains instructions on how to install the application and either activate an existing subscription or purchase HMA VPN.
Install HMA VPN
- On your Android device, tap the link below to open the HMA VPN product page in the Google Play Store.
Go to Google Play Store - Tap “Install” to download and install the app. Once the installation is complete, tap “Open”.
Tap “Get Started” to confirm that you accept the License Agreement and Privacy Policy from Avast, then tap “Continue” to go through the tutorial.
Select one of the following options:
- Activate: If you have already purchased HMA VPN before installation, tap ⋮ Options (three dots) ▸ Already purchased?.
- Buy: Tap “View Subscriptions” to see the subscription plans and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the purchase.
HMA VPN is now installed on your Android device. If you chose the “Already purchased” option, you can select one of the following:
- Sign In: Sign in to your HMA account and restore your subscription.
- Enter Activation Code: Enter the activation code you received when purchasing the service on our website.
- Restore via Google Play: If you previously purchased HMA VPN through Google Play and are reinstalling the app, select this option. Make sure you are signed in to the same Google Play account that was used for the subscription.

Activating HMA VPN with a Third-Party Code (Reseller)
Enter Activation Code
To activate HMA VPN with an activation code:
- Select “Enter Activation Code”.
Enter your activation code (including dashes) in the text field or paste it, then tap “Activate”.
Sign In to HMA Account
Your HMA account sign-in is the email address you provided when purchasing your subscription. To sign in to your HMA account for the first time, please read the following article: Creating an HMA Account.
To activate HMA VPN with your HMA account:
- Tap “Sign In”.
Enter the credentials of the HMA account that contains your HMA VPN subscription, then tap “Sign In”.
